Describe the recommended route, missable achievements, required saves, and other information players should know before starting.
Chop down a tree and pick up the wood. Use your starting Copper Axe on any tree near spawn and collect the wood that drops.
[PRE-HARDMODE]
Craft a Work Bench. Collect 10 wood, open your inventory (Esc), and pick the Work Bench from the crafting menu in the bottom-left. No crafting station is needed.
[PRE-HARDMODE]
Lure a Gnome outside into the sun to turn it into a statue. Often spawns in the roots of Living Trees, which usually generate in the Forest biome.
[PRE-HARDMODE]
Kill Tim, a rare skeleton wizard with a Wizard Hat. He spawns in the lower half of the Cavern layer with a low chance (0.25%), usually around lava. Wear any Gem Robe to greatly increase his spawn rate (2%)
[PRE-HARDMODE]
Defeat Deerclops. Craft a Deer Thing at a Demon or Crimson Altar (3 Flinx Fur, 5 Demonite or Crimtane Ore, 1 Lens) and use it in the Snow biome at any time.
Deerclops can also spawn naturally at midnight if all of these are true:
[PRE-HARDMODE]
Defeat these 15 bosses: King Slime, Eye of Cthulhu, Eater of Worlds, Brain of Cthulhu, Queen Bee, Skeletron, Wall of Flesh, The Twins, The Destroyer, Skeletron Prime, Plantera, Golem, Duke Fishron, Lunatic Cultist and Moon Lord.
NB! Progress carries over between worlds, so you don’t need to kill them all in one. Each world has only Corruption or Crimson, so you’ll need a second world (or Shimmer) to fight both Eater of Worlds and Brain of Cthulhu.
[POST MOON-LORD]
Complete the Old One’s Army after defeating Golem. Buy an Eternia Crystal from the Tavernkeep, place it on an Eternia Crystal Stand, and survive all 7 waves, ending with Betsy.
[POST GOLEM]
[POST-PLANTERA]
House every town NPC in your world. The Traveling Merchant, Old Man, and Skeleton Merchant are not town NPCs and Santa Claus is not considered for this achievement. Therefore, only the remaining 25 town NPCs are required.
!NB For each of the NPC in addition to the listed spawn requirement there should be a vacant NPC-suitable house.
Pre-Hardmode:
| NPC | Spawn Requirements |
| Guide | Always present when starting a new regular world. (Present at the start) |
| Merchant | You need to have more than 50 silver coins in your inventory. (Have 50 silver in your inventory) |
| Nurse | You need to have more than a 100 HP and a Merchant is present. (Have over 100 max health, Merchant present) |
| Demolitionist | You need to have an explosive (bomb or dynamite) in your inventory and the Merchant is present. (Have an explosive in your inventory, Merchant present) |
| Dye Trader | You need to have a dye or a dye plant like Yellow Marigold or Blue Berries. (Have a dye or dye ingredient in your inventory) |
| Angler | You need to speak to him in the Ocean biome. Can be floating on the ocean surface sleeping, wait till he reaches the coast and talk to him. (Find him asleep at the Ocean and talk to him) |
| Zoologist | At least 10% of the Bestiary has been filled. (Fill 10% of the Bestiary) |
| Dryad | The Eye of Cthulhu, Eater of Worlds/Brain of Cthulhu, or Skeletron has been defeated. (Defeat Eye of Cthulhu, Eater of Worlds/Brain of Cthulhu, or Skeletron) |
| Painter | 8 other town NPCs are in the world. (Have 8 other town NPCs) |
| Golfer | You need to speak to him in the Underground Dessert biome. (Find him in the Underground Desert and talk to him) |
| Arms Dealer | A player has bullets or a gun that shoots bullets in their inventory. Easiest way to get first gun is to destroy one Shadow Orb/Crimson Heart. (Have a gun or bullets in your inventory) |
| Tavernkeeper | You need to defeat the Eater of Worlds/Brain of Cthulhu and then talk to him as the Unconscious Man, who can be encountered in any layer. (After defeating Eater of Worlds/Brain of Cthulhu, find him unconscious and talk to him) |
| Stylist | Can be found in the Spider Nest, which is easy to find using Dangerous Potion locating a big area with spider web. (Find her webbed in a Spider Nest and talk to her) |
| Goblin Tinkerer | You need to defeat the Goblin Army, and then talk to him as the Bound Goblin, who can be rarely encountered in the Cavern layer. (After defeating a Goblin Army, find him bound in the Caverns) |
| Witch Doctor | You need to defeat the Queen Bee. (Defeat Queen Bee) |
| Clothier | You need to defeat the Skeletron. (Defeat Skeletron) |
| Mechanic | You need to rescue and talk to her in the Dungeon after defeating the Skeletron. (Find her bound in the Dungeon and talk to her) |
| Party Girl | 1/40 chance of spawning after 20 other town NPCs are in the world. (Have 20 other town NPCs (1/40 chance)) |
Hardmode:
| NPC | Spawn Requirements |
| Wizard | You need to talk to him as the Bound Wizard in the Cavern layer after defeating Wall of Flesh. (Find him bound in the Caverns) |
| Tax Collector | Throw a Purification Powder onto a Tortured Soul, which is a rare enemy that only spawns in The Underworld after defeating the Wall of Flesh. (Use Purification Powder on a Tortured Soul in the Underworld) |
| Truffle | There is a vacant house in an above-ground Glowing Mushroom biome during Hardmode. (Build a house in a surface Glowing Mushroom biome) |
| Pirate | Defeat the pirate invasion. (Defeat a Pirate Invasion) |
| Steampunker | You need to defeat at least one mechanical boss (The Twins, The Destroyer or Skeletron Prime). (Defeat any mechanical boss) |
| Cyborg | You need to defeat Plantera. (Defeat Plantera) |
| Princess | All other listed town NPCs are already in the world. (All other town NPCs present (comes last)) |
Reach the top of the world. You can do this by simply building a pillar of blocks into the space or consuming the Gravitation Potion which can be found in Pots, Chests and fishing Crates
Defeat The Twins, The Destroyer and Skeletron Prime in Hardmode. Craft each summon at a Mythril or Orichalcum Anvil and use it at night. You can fight the bosses on separate nights.
Souls of Light drop from enemies in the underground Hallow. Souls of Night drop from enemies in the underground Corruption or Crimson. Bones are easiest to farm in the Dungeon.
Ride any mount. The easiest early options:
Dig straight down until you hit ash blocks and a glowing red background.
Defeat a Goblin Army. Once you have 200 max health and have broken a Shadow Orb/Crimson Heart, there’s a 1/3 chance each dawn that the army shows up on its own. To start it yourself, craft a Goblin Battle Standard at a Loom (10 Tattered Cloth + 5 Wood). Tattered Cloth drops from Goblin Scouts near the edges of the world.
The army marches to your world spawn point, so wait there and kill goblins until the progress bar fills (120 kills in single player).
Take fall damage and survive with less than 10% maximum health. Unequip any Lucky Horseshoe, wings or other fall-damage protection before you jump.
Reach wave 15 of the Frost Moon in one night. Craft a Naughty Present at a Mythril or Orichalcum Anvil (20 Silk, 5 Ectoplasm, 5 Souls of Fright) and use it right at nightfall (7:30 PM) to get the most time. Kill enemies to fill each wave’s bar and reach wave 15 before dawn (4:30 AM), when the event ends.
Open a Biome Chest in the Dungeon with a Biome Key. In Hardmode, any enemy has a 1/2500 (0.04%) chance to drop a key matching the biome it was killed in: Jungle, Corruption, Crimson, Hallow, Snow or Desert. Take the key to the matching Biome Chest in the Dungeon. Chests only open after Plantera is defeated, but you can collect keys before that.
Make it through a Blood Moon until dawn. A Blood Moon has a 1/9 chance to start each night once you have more than 120 max health (it never happens on a new moon). The sky and water turn red and a message says “The Blood Moon is rising...”. The achievement unlocks when the event ends at 4:30 AM.
Spend a total of more than 1 gold on Nurse healing. The total adds up over time, so just keep using the Nurse whenever you’re hurt or have debuffs. It goes faster later in the game, because healing prices rise as you beat more bosses. An unhappy Nurse also charges more, so housing her somewhere she dislikes speeds things up.
In the Underworld, keep digging down through the ash and hellstone until you can’t go any further and reach the lowest point of the world.
Fire a Rainbow Gun while riding the Unicorn Mount. You need two items, both from Hardmode:
Hit a town NPC with the Flymeal. Craft the Flymeal from a Gold or Platinum Broadsword plus 5 Stinkbugs while standing next to Honey (no crafting station needed). Stinkbugs are critters on the surface during the day; catch them with a Bug Net. Then swing the sword at any town NPC.
Defeat Queen Slime. In Hardmode, look for a Gelatin Crystal in the underground Hallow. It grows like a Crystal Shard but is pink and sparkles. Mine it, then use it anywhere in the Hallow to summon the boss.
Pick up a weapon dropped by one of the Dungeon’s post-Plantera enemies. After defeating Plantera, new, tougher enemies spawn in the Dungeon (Paladins, Skeleton Snipers, Tactical Skeletons, Necromancers and more). Farm them until one drops a weapon, such as the Paladin’s Hammer, Sniper Rifle, Tactical Shotgun or Shadowbeam Staff.
Defeat the Dreadnautilus, a Hardmode mini-boss. Fish in any water during a Blood Moon in Hardmode. Each catch has a 1/6 chance to be an enemy instead of a fish, and 1 in 10 of those is the Dreadnautilus. Drink a Sonar Potion to see what’s on your hook (enemies show in red), so you can reel in only the ones you want.
Complete 10 Angler quests.
Defeat the Moon Lord in a For the Worthy or Zenith world.
Create a world with the seed for the worthy and progress to the Moon Lord. A Zenith world (seed get fixed boi) also counts, since it includes For the Worthy, but it’s much harder. In these worlds the Moon Lord also throws bouncing Moon Boulders after his Phantasmal Deathray attack.
Destroy all four Celestial Pillars. Defeating the Lunatic Cultist (at the Dungeon entrance, after Golem) starts the Lunar Events, and four pillars appear across the world (shown on your map). Each pillar has a shield. Kill 100 of its enemies to break the shield, then destroy the pillar.
!NB - Destroying the last pillar summons the Moon Lord a minute later, so be ready.
Pet a town pet. Once the Zoologist moves in (10% Bestiary completion), buy a Cat License from her and use it. The cat moves in at dawn the next day. It can share a house with another NPC. Talk to the pet and choose “Pet”.
Town Slimes count too. The easiest is the Nerdy Slime, which appears after you defeat King Slime.
Get any boss-summoning item.
The easiest is the Suspicious Looking Eye: collect 6 Lenses from Demon Eyes at night and craft it at a Demon or Crimson Altar in your world’s Corruption or Crimson. You only need to obtain it, not use it.
Survive the Torch God event, then use the Torch God’s Favor it drops. Underground, place 100 or more torches close together around you. The event starts when the torches start firing at you. Survive until it ends, pick up the Torch God’s Favor, and use it.
Craft a Drax or a Pickaxe Axe. Defeat all three mechanical bosses, then craft either tool at a Mythril or Orichalcum Anvil from 18 Hallowed Bars plus 1 Soul of Fright (Skeletron Prime), 1 Soul of Might (The Destroyer) and 1 Soul of Sight (The Twins). All three bosses drop Hallowed Bars.
Talk to a town NPC who is at maximum happiness. The easiest pre-Hardmode setup is to house the Arms Dealer and the Nurse next to each other in the Desert, then talk to the Arms Dealer. Keep them away from your other NPCs, because crowding lowers happiness.
Defeat the Queen Bee. Find a Bee Hive in the underground Jungle, dig inside, and break the Larva in the middle to summon her.
Another option to submit the boss is to craft an Abeemination at a Demon or Crimson Altar. You’ll need 5 Honey Blocks, 5 Hive blocks, 1 Stinger and 1 Bottled Honey, and you must use it in the Jungle at any time.
Travel 26.2 miles (69,168 tiles) on foot. Progress adds up over time, so most players earn it just by playing. Running and flying count, but riding a mount doesn’t. To speed it up, run back and forth across a large world (about four full crossings) with speed boots like the Hermes Boots.
Defeat the Lunatic Cultist. After defeating Golem, robed figures (Lunatic Devotees and Cultist Archers) appear at the Dungeon entrance. Kill everyone of them to summon the Lunatic Cultist, then defeat him. This starts the Lunar Events right away, so be ready for the Celestial Pillars.
Have the Dryad purify a Joja Cola. Fish until you catch a Joja Cola. It replaces 1 in 8 junk catches, so fish in a small, shallow pool where junk (old shoes, tin cans) is common. Then select the Joja Cola in your hotbar, talk to the Dryad, and choose “Purify” (it replaces the “Status” button).
Craft a Molten Pickaxe. Craft it at an Iron or Lead Anvil from 20 Hellstone Bars. Smelt each bar at a Hellforge from 3 Hellstone and 1 Obsidian. Mining Hellstone in the Underworld needs a pickaxe with at least 65% power (Nightmare or Deathbringer pickaxe), and it releases lava, so drink an Obsidian Skin Potion first or be cautious not to drown in lava.
Wear the full Moon Lord costume: Mask, Torso and Legs. The pieces come from different places:
for the worthy) or Zenith (seed get fixed boi) worlds. It has a 20% chance in locked Gold Chests and Biome Chests in the Dungeon, or from Golden Lock Boxes fished up in the Dungeon.05162020) or Zenith worlds.A Zenith world is the only seed where all three are available.
Get an Iron or Lead Anvil. Smelt 5 Iron or Lead Bars at a Furnace (3 ore per bar), then craft the anvil at a Work Bench. You can also buy an Anvil from the Merchant for 50 silver, or find one in underground cabins.
Kill Doctor Bones, a rare zombie wearing an explorer’s hat. He spawns only at night, in the surface Jungle or the underground Jungle. To raise your chances, stand in the surface Jungle at night with a Battle Potion and a Water Candle, ideally during a Blood Moon. He’s easier to find before Hardmode, when fewer other enemies compete for spawns.
Destroy a total of 10,000 tiles with a pickaxe or drill. Progress adds up over time, so most players earn it through normal mining. Only tiles broken with a pickaxe, drill, Gravedigger’s Shovel or Drill Mount count. To speed it up, use a fast pickaxe with a Mining Potion and dig long tunnels through stone, dirt or sand.
Get the Terrarian yoyo.
The Terrarian drops from the Moon Lord. He always drops 2 of his 10 weapons, so each kill gives about a 20% chance at the Terrarian. To fight him again quickly, craft a Celestial Sigil from 12 of each Lunar Fragment at an Ancient Manipulator.
Reach wave 15 of the Pumpkin Moon in one night. Craft a Pumpkin Moon Medallion at a Mythril or Orichalcum Anvil (30 Pumpkins, 10 Hallowed Bars, 5 Ectoplasm) and use it right at nightfall (7:30 PM) to get the most time. Kill enemies to fill each wave’s bar and reach wave 15 before dawn (4:30 AM).
Grow Pumpkins from Pumpkin Seeds, which the Dryad sells at any time of year. Plant them on surface grass. Ectoplasm drops from Dungeon Spirits after Plantera is defeated.
Defeat a Frost Legion invasion. In Hardmode during the Christmas season (December 15–31), enemies drop Presents. Open them until you get a Snow Globe, then use it to start the invasion. The legion marches to your spawn point, so wait there and kill snowmen until the progress bar fills (80 kills in single player).
P.S. Changing your computer’s date to December 15–31 also works, no need to wait for real Christmas.
Kill a town NPC or another player with your falling tombstone.
This only works in a Zenith (seed get fixed boi) or For the Worthy (seed for the worthy) worlds , where tombstones become damaging projectiles when you die. Trap a town NPC in a small box with you, lower its health first with a Flymeal, then die right next to it (lava is quickest). The tombstone has to land the killing blow.
Defeat King Slime during a Slime Rain. Slime Rain is a random daytime event where slimes fall from the sky. During it, King Slime appears once you’ve killed 150 slimes (75 if you’ve already defeated him before). The quickest option is to use a Slime Crown as soon as a Slime Rain starts.
Switch the title screen back to its original look. On the main menu, click the sun (or the moon at night), drag it and achievement unlocks right away.
Obtain the Zenith.
Mine a Chlorophyte Ore block. In Hardmode, Chlorophyte grows on mud in the underground Jungle as bright green ore. You need a pickaxe or drill with at least 200% pickaxe power, such as the Pickaxe Axe or Drax from Drax Attax, which means defeating all three mechanical bosses first.
Obtain the Ankh Shield.
Defeat the Moon Lord. Destroying all four Celestial Pillars (see Star Destroyer) summons him about a minute later. For later fights, craft a Celestial Sigil at the Ancient Manipulator (dropped by the Lunatic Cultist) from 12 Solar, Vortex, Nebula and Stardust Fragments. Using it summons him after 12 seconds.
Get a Rod of Discord.
In Hardmode, farm Chaos Elementals, the glowing purple enemies that teleport around the underground Hallow. Each one has a 1 in 500 chance to drop the Rod (1 in 400 in Expert). For much better odds, farm in a Celebration Mk 10 world (seed celebrationmk10), where the chance is 1 in 100 on any difficulty.
Defeat the Empress of Light. After Plantera, look for a Prismatic Lacewing, a rare glowing butterfly that appears on the surface Hallow between 7:30 PM and midnight. Kill it to summon the Empress, or catch it with a Bug Net and release it later when you’re ready. Fight her at night and stay in the Hallow, because during the day she becomes enraged and every attack kills you in one hit.
Fly out through the top of the world in a Zenith/Remix world.
Create a world with the seed (get fixed boi/dont dig up). In these seeds you can pass the top border, which you can’t in normal worlds. Head straight up (a Gravitation Potion is quickest, as in Into Orbit) and keep going past the edge of the world. Your character drifts off into space and dies, and the achievement unlocks.
Defeat the Wall of Flesh. In the Underworld, kill a Voodoo Demon (a demon carrying a small doll) to get a Guide Voodoo Doll. While the Guide is alive, throw the doll into lava in the Underworld to summon the boss.
The Wall chases you sideways across the whole Underworld, so build a long bridge to fight on before you summon it.
!NB. Defeating it turns your world into Hardmode.
Defeat the Brain of Cthulhu. In a Crimson world, go down the chasms in the Crimson and find the glowing red Crimson Hearts. Break 3 with a hammer (bombs help clear the Crimstone around them) to summon the boss.
You can also craft a Bloody Spine at a Crimson Altar (15 Vertebrae + 30 Vicious Powder) and use it in the Crimson.
Survive a Solar Eclipse until dusk. After defeating at least one mechanical boss, there’s a 1/20 (5%) chance each morning that a Solar Eclipse begins. The sky goes dark and horror-movie monsters appear. To start one yourself, use a Solar Tablet, found in Jungle Temple chests or crafted from Solar Tablet Fragments (dropped by Lihzahrds and Flying Snakes or found in Lihzahrd Chest). The achievement unlocks when the eclipse ends at 7:30 PM.
Wear Sunglasses on the surface on a clear day. Craft Sunglasses at a Work Bench from 2 Black Lenses, a rare drop from Demon Eyes at night. Put them on, then go above ground during the day when it isn’t raining. When you’re wearing them, the sun in the sky wears sunglasses too.
Complete 200 Angler quests.
Complete 50 Angler quests.
Complete 25 Angler quests.
Complete 1 Angler quest.
Find the Angler asleep at either Ocean and talk to him so he moves in. He gives one quest per day: a specific fish and where to catch it. Bring it back to complete the quest. A new quest appears every morning at 4:30 AM, and quests from any character or world all count toward the total.
